Cognitive warfare, as one of the most complex forms of unconventional conflict, exerts extensive influence on cultural and social structures, particularly within Islamic societies. Due to their pivotal role in preserving the family institution, transmitting cultural values, and nurturing future generations, women constitute one of the primary targets of such warfare. The present study aims to analyze the social and cultural dimensions of cognitive warfare directed against Muslim women and to propose effective counterstrategies. Accordingly, three main research questions are addressed: How does cognitive warfare affect women’s identity and roles? What are its principal instruments? And how can it be countered through cultural and social policies?
This research adopts a qualitative methodology, employing grounded theory for data analysis. The findings indicate that mass media, social networks, and cultural propaganda function as key instruments of cognitive warfare, leading to identity crises, the weakening of family roles, and shifts in women’s attitudes. Consequently, diminished social cohesion, increased individualism, and the erosion of Islamic values emerge as significant outcomes of this form of warfare.
To confront these challenges, the study recommends enhancing media literacy, strengthening cultural and religious identity, producing indigenous content, and promoting appropriate role models. The research underscores the necessity of comprehensive cultural and social strategies aimed at safeguarding the Islamic identity of women and mitigating the detrimental effects of cognitive warfare.
