Abstract
Due to the confrontation between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Western liberal system, a massive and complex media assault is being waged against Iran. As a result, it is necessary to consider the creation and development of media deterrence to protect the psychological domain of Iranian society and enhance its soft resilience. The primary goal of media deterrence is to reduce or eliminate media psychological attacks or their effects and consequences by increasing the costs of such attacks, leading the adversary to conclude that the costs of an attack outweigh the benefits. Therefore, the main objective of this paper is to examine the necessity of media deterrence for the Islamic Republic of Iran. To gather research data, a qualitative, document analysis method was used, along with note-taking tools. In order to achieve media deterrence for the Islamic Republic of Iran, the proposed solutions include increasing media literacy among society and citizens, operationalizing the national information network and effective governance over cyberspace, creating a unified center for monitoring, preventing, countering, and responding to fake news and rumors, and strengthening the credibility of national media.
